It's the second day of giveaways this week, and today I'm sharing two cookbooks that are in heavy rotation in my kitchen, especially during the holidays: Martha Stewart's Cookies and Martha Stewart's Pies and Tarts.

I've had my copy of Cookies for a few years, and it's always the first place I look when I want to try a new cookie recipe. From pumpkin cookies with brown butter icing to rocky ledge bars, the book is big on variety - you're pretty much guaranteed to find something you like!  Even better?  The recipes work!  I've tried at least a dozen and haven't had a flop yet. 



Pies and Tarts is a newer addition to my collection, but I am just as in love with it.  Its pages are filled with an enormous variety of sweet and savory pies and tarts, and there's a gorgeous color photo to accompany each and every recipe.  There's also a section on basics that'll walk you through making pie crust, a lattice top, decorative edges on your pies, and so much more.  I've only blogged one recipe from the book, but it's a show-stopper: frozen chocolate-peanut butter pie!
